1. When should herbs be taken? Usually with meals, which allows for better
digestion. If unsure, read the label, which is a good guide. Some need to be
on an empty stomach and some with plenty of water.
It is good to separate herbs from
medications by about two hours. Medications are strong and can destroy the
effectiveness of the herb. Some herbs should not be taken with certain
medications. Be sure to make me aware of any medications when asking for
yourself specifically.
Probably not! Most of us will
want to take at least a few herbs most of the time to compensate for
nutritional shortfalls in our diet or to keep our body in a healthy
cleansing mode. But once initial problems have been addressed, the herbs you
first took can either be discontinued or drastically reduced.
Herbs are food. Food that is
nourishing and that has been used throughout the centuries for various
troubles. Certain herbs have proven themselves for specific weaknesses and
stresses and can usually be taken with great safety and even in large
amounts at times. Herbs, because they are not synthetic reproductions, are
easily digested and metabolized and do not leave undesirable and dangerous
side effects. This assumes that the herbs are clean, safe, and meet high
quality control standards. It is important to contact an herb specialist who
can help you with specific concerns so that you do not get an herb
contraindicated for your concern.
Maybe.
It would certainly be cost effective for insurance companies to cover
alternative health products and treatments. One must recognize however, that
insurance is a very complicated scenario plagued with paperwork, proving and
profit. This might create increased regulation, costs to the provider of
products and you know where all that leads. Paying from the pocket increases
a sense of responsibility to follow through, to make proper lifestyle
changes and greater accountability.
There could be. You may
get better in areas that you were not expecting. The body degenerates by the
"domino" effect. When you get that "problem" domino fixed, other dominoes
tend to correct themselves also. Using herbs may create a cleansing effect,
which can initially create a headache or some tiredness as the body makes
adjustments to levels of health and nutrients it has not been accustomed to.
Many people feel initially better and then later experience a slight
cleansing response after which they are able to sustain a higher level of
health. Herbs are wonderful!
Generally, you are given
instructions on that during a consultation. People are different and diets
are different. Soft drinks are OUT! You can't get well with those in the
picture. Junk food should be minimized as much as possible. Learn to use
whole grains, farm raised meats, fresh fruits and vegetables as much as
possible. In other words, pretend you are moving back in time! If you can't
get raw milk, skip the milk. Use whipping cream and butter, never margarine
or whipped toppings. You know, just the real thing whenever possible and
back to basics!
